Every time I get a moment to think and reflect, I feel nothing but gratitude. Despite all the hurdles we have had to face, we always found a way to live to fight another day. WebEngage has turned 13 today! I’d like to congratulate and thank all our team members, alums, customers, partners, investors and ecosystem friends.
Last 12 months were about navigating market headwinds, consolidating our leadership in certain segments and focusing on what we do the best — ruthless execution!
Three key highlights from the year gone by..
1. Ankur took on the charter of customer service delivery teams alongside his existing marketing charter. Ankur is reshaping what we are known the best for — our customer service delivery and customer onboarding experience. We have gone through sea changes in these units in the first half of this year and I am pretty sure if you are a customer, you have been loving it :-)
2. Abhijat joined us as our Chief of Data Science Consulting practice. From what was an accidental intro to Abhijat, leading all the way to this development — it took more than a year in the making! Here’s why we did this and what it means for you the customer — link.
3. We fulfilled our promise — WebEngage became the first martech cloud to set up data centre in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Thanks to our enviable MEA bunch, led by Hetarth, WebEngage is the largest martech cloud product in the GCC region. We have more than a hundred customers in KSA alone. We came good on our promise to customers in GCC, showing our commitment to data privacy and data security laws in all the regions we operate in.

a. We service 850+ customers all over the globe — we are the most dominant marketing automation stack across Retail, E-commerce, Online Travel, Financial Services, Fintech, EdTech, FMCG and FMCD categories in India, Middle East, Latin America and South East Asia. We are now a team of ~450 engagers across 5 different countries.
b. We service new age consumer tech startups (like Groww, Spinny, Acko, GoIbibo, PlatinumList, Care Insurance, CashE, Good Glamm Group, Sugar Cosmetics, PepperFry, BlueStone + hundreds others) and traditional enterprises (like Unilever, Airtel, Walmart, Eureka Forbes, Reliance General Insurance, Sultan Centre, Shoppers Stop, Sony ME, CIBIL + hundreds others) alike. Servicing high growth companies at scale is one thing. And, navigating the data silos of a traditional enterprise to build customer golden record led user journeys is absolutely another. Most companies we compete with are good at one of these. WebEngage is the ONLY company in our category globally which is able to service both this categories with finesse. Thanks to our differentiated approach in the core product and customer services units, we have become a dominant player in both these categories. 600+ customer reviews on G2 and consistent leadership in 25+ categories is a testimony to our unique approach.
c. WebEngage will be the first software company in CDP + Marketing Automation Category to list in India. Soon enough. Oh, yeah!
At 13, all teens throw some tantrums. WebEngage is no different. I am using all my experiences from raising this other teen who became 13 this year too, to get WebEngage into adulthood better :-)
Ankit and I are driving our mission forward every minute each day with the same zeal with which we started this company 13 years ago. When I write this post next year, I can promise you one thing — you will read about a 14 year old legendary company coming of age 🙏
